Mobile Suit Gundam

Set in the year Universal Century 0079, the story follows the brutal One Year War between the Earth Federation and the secessionist Principality of Zeon. When Zeon forces attack the neutral space colony Side 7, a young civilian named Amuro Ray accidentally pilots the Federation's secret prototype weapon, the RX-78-2 Gundam. This event thrusts him into the heart of a global conflict, forcing him to grow up quickly as he battles the legendary Zeon ace pilot, Char Aznable. Unlike traditional super robot shows of its era, Mobile Suit Gundam pioneered the 'Real Robot' genre, treating its mecha as military hardware rather than magical entities. The series explores the psychological toll of war, the moral ambiguity of both sides, and the evolution of humanity into 'Newtypes'—individuals with heightened awareness and psychic abilities. It remains a seminal work in science fiction, credited with revolutionizing anime storytelling through its complex political themes and character-driven drama.
