My-HiME follows Mai Tokiha, a transfer student who arrives at the prestigious Fuka Academy alongside her younger brother, Takumi. Mai soon discovers that she is one of the 'HiME' (Highly-advanced Imbued Master Element), a select group of teenage girls with the supernatural ability to materialize powerful elemental avatars known as 'Childs'. Brought to the academy under mysterious circumstances, the HiME are forced into a brutal, hidden battle against monstrous entities called Orphans. The conflict escalates when Mai and the other girls realize the cruel nature of their destiny: the HiME are bound in pairs to 'Stigmata', where the pain or defeat of one's bonded partner directly impacts their own beloved. As paranoia, emotional trauma, and manipulation tear the group apart, the girls must fight not only for their own survival, but to protect the people they hold most dear, culminating in a devastating psychological and physical war where true friendship is pushed to its absolute limits.
