My Three Sons is a classic American sitcom that chronicles the life of Steve Douglas, an aeronautical engineer and widower raising his three sons—Mike, Robbie, and Chip—in the fictional Midwestern town of Bryant Park. The series focuses on the domestic challenges of a single-parent household, balancing the boys' coming-of-age experiences with Steve's efforts to provide a stable and loving environment. He is assisted in these duties by his gruff but lovable father-in-law, Michael Francis 'Bub' O'Casey, who serves as the family's housekeeper and surrogate grandfather. As the series progressed over its twelve-season run, it evolved significantly, moving from black-and-white to color and shifting settings from the Midwest to Los Angeles. The family dynamic expanded over time with the addition of new characters, including Uncle Charley, who replaced Bub, and the eventual marriage of Steve Douglas to Barbara Harper. The show remains a landmark in television history for its portrayal of evolving family structures and its transition from a traditional domestic comedy to a more complex family drama.
