Mystery Science Theater 3000

Mystery Science Theater 3000, often abbreviated as MST3K, is a cult classic television series that centers on a human host trapped in space aboard the Satellite of Love. Forced by mad scientists to watch a relentless barrage of 'B-movies' as part of a psychological experiment, the host maintains his sanity by riffing on the films alongside his sentient robot companions, Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo. The show is renowned for its unique format, which features silhouettes of the characters at the bottom of the screen as they provide witty, sarcastic, and often hilarious commentary over the duration of the movies. Throughout its long and complex history, the series has moved through various networks and hosts, including Joel Hodgson, Mike Nelson, Jonah Heston, and Emily Connor. Despite these changes, the core premise remains a celebration of cinematic failure, turning objectively terrible films into comedic gold. The show has become a cultural touchstone for its influence on internet culture, the 'riffing' subgenre, and its dedicated fan base, known as 'MSTies,' who have supported the show through multiple revivals and crowdfunding campaigns.
