New My Fair Princess is a 2011 Chinese television series and a remake of the immensely popular 1998 drama My Fair Princess, created by writer Chiung Yao. Set during the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty, the story follows the lively and street-smart orphan Huan Er, who travels to Beijing to deliver a token to a man she believes is her biological father: the Emperor. Through a series of comedic and chaotic misunderstandings, she befriends Xia Ziwei, the actual illegitimate daughter of the Emperor. When Huan Er mistakenly breaches the imperial grounds and is identified as the Emperor's long-lost daughter instead of Ziwei, she is thrust into the treacherous inner palace as Princess Huanzhu. Alongside Ziwei, her loyal friend Jinsu, and a band of daring companions including Yongqi and Fu Erkang, Huan Er must navigate palace protocols, romantic entanglements, and political conspiracies while trying to reveal the truth without losing their heads.
