New Tricks is a long-running British police procedural that follows the Unsolved Crime and Open Case Squad (UCOS), a fictional unit of the Metropolitan Police Service. The team is composed of retired police officers who are brought back into service to investigate cold cases that have remained unsolved for years. Led by Detective Superintendent Sandra Pullman, the team utilizes their decades of experience and unconventional methods to navigate modern policing challenges while dealing with the personal baggage of their past careers. The series is renowned for its blend of lighthearted banter and serious crime-solving. As the team members—each with distinct personalities and specialized skill sets—tackle complex murders and disappearances, they often clash with younger, tech-savvy officers. Over its twelve-season run, the show underwent significant cast changes, but it remained a staple of British television, celebrated for its character-driven storytelling and the chemistry between its veteran leads.
