Based on one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature, 'New Water Margin' chronicles the epic journey of 108 disparate heroes and outlaws who gather at Mount Liang to form a formidable rebel army against the corrupt Northern Song dynasty. Driven by various injustices, personal tragedies, and state oppression, men and women from all walks of life—ranging from disgraced military commanders and martial artists to scholars and fishermen—put aside their differences to fight for justice and brotherhood. The series delves deep into the complex political landscape of the Song court, highlighting the rampant corruption of high-ranking officials that forces honorable men outside the law. As the band grows in strength and reputation, they eventually accept an imperial amnesty in hopes of serving their country, leading to tragic campaigns against rebels and foreign invaders that test their loyalty, ideals, and brotherhood to the ultimate limit.
