On the Way to the Airport is a poignant melodrama that explores the complexities of human relationships and the meaning of true connection. The story follows Choi Soo-ah, a veteran flight attendant who has been married for twelve years to a pilot, with whom she shares a young daughter. Her life is defined by routine and the expectations of her demanding husband, until she crosses paths with Seo Do-woo, an architect who is also married and struggling with his own personal tragedies. As their lives intersect, Soo-ah and Do-woo find solace in each other's company, forming an intense emotional bond that challenges their existing marriages. The series delves into the themes of mid-life crises, the nature of love, and the moral dilemmas faced when one finds a 'soulmate' outside of their committed relationship. It is a slow-burn, atmospheric drama that prioritizes emotional depth and character growth over traditional romantic tropes.
