Ordinary World

Adapted from Lu Yao's award-winning masterpiece novel of the same name, "Ordinary World" is a sprawling historical drama set in the vast landscapes of Northwest China from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s. The series chronicles the tumultuous lives, loves, and struggles of the Sun family, particularly brothers Sun少安 (Sun Shao'an) and Sun少平 (Sun Shao-ping), as they grapple with poverty, societal transformations, and the dawn of China's reform era. Sun Shao'an, a steadfast farmer, struggles to uplift his family and village while dealing with heartbreaking romance and economic hardships. Meanwhile, his younger brother Shao-ping seeks a broader horizon through education and labor, facing harsh trials as a coal miner while holding onto his dignity and progressive ideals. The drama offers a deeply human exploration of ambition, class disparity, familial duty, and personal growth. Through the interwoven fates of the Sun and Tian families, "Ordinary World" paints a vivid, poignant portrait of an era defined by sacrifice and profound social change, celebrating the quiet heroism of ordinary individuals facing the tides of history.
