Osen

Osen tells the story of Issho An, a long-established, highly respected traditional Japanese restaurant (ryotei) known for its uncompromising dedication to authentic culinary arts, genuine hospitality, and slow-food philosophy. The restaurant is presided over by the charismatic, charming, and sake-loving proprietress, Osen Hand. While Osen appears easy-going and somewhat ditzy at first glance, she is a culinary genius fiercely protective of traditional methods in a modernizing world that favors speed and convenience. The series follows the daily trials and tribulations of the restaurant staff, particularly focusing on Shotaro Ezaki, a young man who initially joins the restaurant hoping to modernize and streamline operations. Through his experiences working under Osen and alongside master craftsmen, Shotaro learns the deep philosophy, patience, and emotional resonance behind every single dish prepared at Issho An, shifting from a superficial view of cooking to understanding food as an art form that connects people.
