Pachinko Season 1

Epic in scope and intimate in tone, Pachinko follows the hopes and dreams of a Korean immigrant family across four generations. The narrative begins in early 20th-century Korea, where a resilient young woman named Sunja becomes pregnant by a wealthy broker, leading her to marry a gentle minister and emigrate to Osaka, Japan. Facing intense discrimination, poverty, and the looming shadows of World War II, the family fights to carve out a living. The story interweaves these historical struggles with the perspective of Sunja's ambitious grandson, Solomon, in the late 1980s as he navigates the high-stakes corporate world of Tokyo and New York, ultimately reconciling his identity and family legacy. Adapted from Min Jin Lee's acclaimed bestselling novel, the series explores themes of displacement, generational trauma, identity, and the heavy price of survival. Through breathtaking cinematography and a dual-timeline structure, Pachinko highlights the quiet heroism of ordinary people caught in the sweeping tides of history.
