Set in Las Vegas, Nevada, 'Pawn Stars' follows the colorful daily operations of the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, a family-run business open 24 hours a day. The series centers on the multi-generational dynamics of the Harrison family—patriarch Richard 'Old Man' Harrison, his son Rick Harrison, grandson Corey 'Big Hoss' Harrison, and Corey's childhood friend Austin 'Chumlee' Russell. Together, they evaluate a bizarre, rare, and historically significant array of items brought in by eccentric sellers, ranging from 16th-century samurai swords to rare rock-and-roll memorabilia. The core conflict of the show revolves around the delicate, high-stakes dance of appraisal, negotiation, and purchase. Rick and the crew rely on their sharp instincts and a Rolodex of expert authenticators to separate genuine historical treasures from elaborate fakes, all while balancing the financial risks of running a high-end pawn shop. Beyond the business transactions, the show highlights the humorous workplace banter, generational friction, and genuine camaraderie among the cast members, turning everyday retail into an entertaining pop-history lesson.
