Quantum Leap follows the story of Dr. Sam Beckett, a brilliant physicist who becomes trapped in time after an experiment with his 'Quantum Leap' accelerator goes awry. Sam finds himself leaping into the bodies of different people throughout history, tasked with 'putting right what once went wrong' in order to leap to the next destination. He is aided by his friend and observer, Admiral Al Calavicci, who appears to Sam as a hologram visible only to him and those with heightened senses. Throughout the series, Sam faces the constant struggle of navigating unfamiliar lives, social issues, and historical events, all while hoping that his next leap will finally be the one that takes him home. The show is renowned for its blend of science fiction, social commentary, and emotional storytelling, as Sam frequently finds himself in the shoes of marginalized individuals, striving to improve their lives before moving on to his next temporal assignment.
