Rake

Rake follows the chaotic life of Cleaver Greene, a brilliant but self-destructive criminal defense barrister in Sydney, Australia. Despite his exceptional legal mind and ability to defend the most hopeless and morally reprehensible clients, Cleaver's personal life is a disaster defined by gambling debts, failed relationships, and a penchant for self-sabotage. He operates on the fringes of the legal system, often finding himself at odds with the establishment, his colleagues, and his own moral compass. The series balances dark comedy with legal drama, exploring the complexities of the Australian justice system through the lens of a protagonist who is his own worst enemy. As Cleaver navigates high-stakes trials and his complicated bond with his ex-wife, his son, and his long-suffering best friend Barney, the show delves into themes of redemption, loyalty, and the absurdity of modern life. It is a sharp, witty, and often poignant look at a man who is perpetually trying to fix everyone else's life while his own remains in shambles.
