Ramy follows Ramy Hassan, a first-generation Egyptian-American living in New Jersey who is caught between his Muslim community, which believes life is a moral test, and his millennial generation friends, who often act as if life has no consequences. As he navigates the complexities of his identity, Ramy embarks on a spiritual journey, constantly struggling to balance his faith with the temptations and pressures of modern American life. The series explores themes of cultural duality, family dynamics, and the search for purpose. Through Ramy's often misguided attempts to find enlightenment, the show offers a poignant and humorous look at the immigrant experience, the nuances of religious practice, and the universal desire for connection and belonging in a rapidly changing world.
