Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In

Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In is a groundbreaking American sketch comedy television program that ran on NBC from 1968 to 1973. Hosted by the comedy duo Dan Rowan and Dick Martin, the series was characterized by a fast-paced barrage of rapid-fire gags, slapstick, political satire, catchphrases, and recurring sketches. It revolutionized late-60s television with its revolutionary editing techniques, psychedelic visual style, and a talented ensemble cast that delivered snappy one-liners. The show served as a major launching pad for numerous comedic stars and celebrity guest appearances, including Richard Nixon's famous campaign cameo ("Sock it to me?"). Despite lacking a traditional overarching plot, the core conflict revolved around subverting traditional television conventions, pushing censorship boundaries of the era, and lampooning contemporary social and political issues through recurring segments like the Cocktail Party, the Joke Wall, and Mod, Mod World.
