The series blends sharp, cynical humor with heartfelt moments of self-discovery. Created by Claudia Lonow and loosely based on her own experiences, the show explores the harsh realities of addiction, relapse, and personal growth. Alongside Billie is her best friend and fellow writer, Trudy, and her well-meaning but neurotic sponsor, Dave. Together, the trio attempts to navigate the treacherous waters of recovery, career stagnation, and modern dating, proving that sometimes a rude awakening is exactly what you need.
