Set in 1989 Mexico, 'Señorita 89' is a sophisticated drama-thriller that unfolds at 'La Encantada,' an idyllic and exclusive estate where the 32 beauty queens of Mexico gather to prepare for the national pageant. Hidden away from the glitz and glamour, these young women discover that the competition is a gilded cage masking a dark, sinister underworld of manipulation, abuse, and corruption orchestrated by the people running the pageant. As the pressure mounts, the contestants must navigate dangerous alliances and fight not just for the coveted crown, but for their own survival. The series delves into the dark side of patriarchal society, beauty standards, and the high price of ambition, as a few of the contestants and a compassionate staff member begin to uncover the lethal secrets buried deep within La Encantada.
