Shitamachi Rocket follows the journey of Kohei Tsukuda, a former aerospace engineer turned president of a small, struggling manufacturing company in Tokyo. After his rocket engine project fails, he inherits his father's factory, Tsukuda Manufacturing. Despite facing constant financial pressure and intense competition from larger corporations, Tsukuda remains steadfast in his commitment to high-quality craftsmanship and innovation. The series chronicles the company's battle to protect its proprietary patents and its ambitious quest to supply critical components for Japan's space exploration programs. Through legal battles, corporate espionage, and internal struggles, Tsukuda and his dedicated team of engineers fight to prove that a small 'shitamachi' (downtown) factory can achieve greatness and contribute to the nation's technological advancement.
