Shomuni follows the lives of six eccentric women working in the General Affairs Department (Shomu) of a major Japanese corporation, Hanayama. Often referred to as the 'graveyard' of the company, the department is populated by employees who have been sidelined or deemed useless by management. Led by the mysterious and fiercely independent Chinatsu Tsuboi, the women of Shomuni refuse to conform to the rigid, patriarchal corporate culture of 1990s Japan. Despite their reputation as slackers, the women frequently find themselves solving the company's most critical crises through unconventional methods, street smarts, and a complete disregard for office hierarchy. The series serves as a satirical critique of the Japanese 'salaryman' culture, highlighting themes of female empowerment, workplace camaraderie, and the absurdity of corporate bureaucracy.
