Sinhá Moça

Set in the 1880s in the fictional town of Araruna, Brazil, the story follows Maria das Graças Ferreira, known as Sinhá Moça, the daughter of the powerful and cruel Colonel Ferreira, a staunch defender of slavery. Upon returning from her studies in the capital, she is shocked by her father's brutality and becomes an abolitionist, secretly working to help enslaved people escape to freedom. Her path crosses with Rodolfo Fontes, a young lawyer and republican who initially hides his political leanings to please his father, but eventually finds himself drawn to Sinhá Moça's ideals and her cause. The series explores the intense social and political tensions of the period leading up to the abolition of slavery in Brazil. As the movement gains momentum, the romance between Sinhá Moça and Rodolfo faces constant opposition from the Colonel and the rigid societal structures of the time. The narrative delves into themes of justice, human rights, and the struggle for equality, highlighting the personal sacrifices made by those who dared to challenge the status quo in a society built on oppression.
