Soldier Sortie

Soldier Sortie follows the journey of Xu Sanduo, a timid and unremarkable rural boy who joins the People's Liberation Army. Initially mocked by his peers and superiors for his lack of physical prowess and social awkwardness, Xu Sanduo is driven by his father's harsh expectations and his own stubborn refusal to quit. Through sheer perseverance and a rigid adherence to his principles, he transforms from a clumsy recruit into an elite soldier within the prestigious 'Laotie' special forces unit. The series is a profound character study that explores themes of brotherhood, personal growth, and the meaning of being a soldier. As Xu Sanduo navigates the challenges of military life, he influences those around him—from his cynical squad leader Shi Jin to his talented but arrogant rival Cheng Cai—forcing them to confront their own definitions of success and duty. It is widely regarded as one of the most influential military dramas in Chinese television history for its realistic portrayal of the soldier's spirit.
