Space Force is a workplace comedy series that follows the creation of the sixth branch of the United States Armed Forces. The story centers on General Mark R. Naird, a decorated pilot with dreams of running the Air Force, who is instead tasked with leading the newly formed Space Force. Tasked by the White House to achieve total space dominance and get 'boots on the moon' by 2024, Naird moves his family to a remote base in Colorado to build the branch from the ground up. As he navigates the bureaucratic nightmares of Washington, D.C., and the scientific challenges of space exploration, Naird must rely on a team of eccentric scientists, military personnel, and his own strained family dynamics. The series explores the absurdity of government operations, the clash between military pragmatism and scientific idealism, and the personal sacrifices required to lead a mission of such immense, often ridiculous, proportions.
