Star Trek: Voyager follows the journey of the USS Voyager, a Federation starship commanded by Captain Kathryn Janeway. During a mission to track down a group of Maquis rebels in the treacherous Badlands, both ships are pulled across the galaxy by a mysterious displacement wave, stranding them 70,000 light-years from home in the uncharted Delta Quadrant. With the crew decimated and their return path destroyed, Janeway makes the difficult decision to destroy the array that brought them there to protect a local civilization, committing the ship to a decades-long journey back to Earth. As the crew navigates the hostile and unknown reaches of the Delta Quadrant, they must forge an uneasy alliance between Starfleet officers and the Maquis rebels. Along the way, they encounter new species, such as the Borg and the Hirogen, while dealing with internal conflicts and the struggle to maintain Starfleet ideals in isolation. The series explores themes of survival, diplomacy, and the evolution of artificial intelligence through characters like the Doctor, an Emergency Medical Hologram who develops sentience, and Seven of Nine, a former Borg drone struggling to reclaim her humanity.
