Sun Records

Set in Memphis during the tumultuous dawn of the civil rights movement, "Sun Records" tells the untold story of the derailed train of young musicians—including Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and B.B. King—who walked into Sam Phillips' recording studio and changed American culture forever. Visionary producer Sam Phillips brought together black and white artists to create a revolutionary sound, navigating the perilous social and political landscape of the American South in the 1950s. The series follows these legendary artists from their humble beginnings and desperate struggles to the explosive overnight success that birthed rock 'n' roll. Alongside the music, the narrative explores the personal demons, fierce rivalries, and the profound societal shifts that defined an era, all anchored by Phillips' unwavering belief that music could transcend the bitter racial divides of the time.
