Adapted from Jin Yong's classic wuxia novel 'The Smiling, Proud Wanderer', 'Swordsman' follows Linghu Chong, a free-spirited and righteous disciple of the Mount Hua Sect. Caught in a brutal power struggle among various martial arts factions all vying for supremacy and supreme manual scrolls, Linghu Chong is wrongfully accused of crimes by his hypocritical master and expelled from his sect. Along his journey of exile, he forms deep bonds with unconventional masters and falls in love with Ren Yingying, the brilliant daughter of the leader of the Sun Moon Holy Cult. The series explores themes of corruption, political machinations, and personal integrity within the wuxia world. As the sects tear themselves apart through betrayal and violence, Linghu Chong must master legendary techniques like the Nine Swords of Dugu to navigate the chaos and ultimately choose a path of peace away from martial arts politics.
