The Army Game is a classic British television sitcom that originally aired on ITV between 1957 and 1961. The series focuses on a group of National Servicemen stationed at the fictional Bullforth barracks, highlighting the comedic friction between lazy recruits trying to dodge work and strict, exasperated career soldiers attempting to maintain discipline. At the center of the chaos is the notoriously cynical Private Claude Snudge alongside a colorful ensemble of reluctant soldiers, most notably the unflappable Sergeant Major Bull. The show was groundbreaking for its era, capturing the cultural shift of post-war Britain and launching the careers of several notable British comedy actors while establishing the format for subsequent military-themed sitcoms.
