Set in a universe where superpowered individuals recognized as heroes are recognized as celebrities by the general public and work for the powerful corporation Vought International, which markets and monetizes them. Outside of their heroic personas, most are arrogant, corrupt, and morally bankrupt. The series focuses on two primary groups: the Seven, Vought's premier superhero team, and the Boys, vigilantes looking to keep the corrupted heroes under control. Led by Billy Butcher, who despises all superpowered people, and Hughie Campbell, whose girlfriend was accidentally killed by a member of the Seven, the series explores the dark side of celebrity culture and superpower corruption.
