Set against the backdrop of the Second Sino-Japanese War and the Wang Jingwei regime, "The Disguiser" follows the intricate and dangerous lives of the Ming family siblings in Shanghai. Ming Tai, a wealthy university student, is unexpectedly abducted and trained as a brutal military agent by the Kuomintang (KMT) intelligence service. Unbeknownst to him, his eldest brother Ming Lou is a seasoned double agent working underground for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), while his sister Ming Jing acts as a patriotic industrialist funding the resistance. As Ming Tai rises through the ranks as an elite assassin and spy, he is repeatedly pitted against his brother Ming Lou, who must maintain his facade as a high-ranking collaborator with the Japanese puppet government.
