The Drowned City

Set in a near-future coastal metropolis partially submerged by rising sea levels, 'The Drowned City' follows Elara Vance, a disgraced hydrologist turned private investigator. As the city’s elite retreat to the high-altitude 'Dry Zones,' the lower districts struggle with crumbling infrastructure and a mysterious, lethal plague known as the 'Salt Lung.' Elara is hired by a desperate mother to find a missing child, leading her into a labyrinthine conspiracy involving the city's governing council and a radical underground movement determined to reclaim the flooded sectors. As the investigation deepens, Elara discovers that the flooding was not a natural disaster but a calculated act of corporate sabotage designed to consolidate power. Caught between the ruthless security forces of the upper city and the desperate rebels below, she must navigate the treacherous, water-logged ruins of her home. With time running out before the next major storm surge, Elara must decide whether to expose the truth and risk total societal collapse or remain silent to ensure the survival of those she loves.
