Based on John Galsworthy's Nobel Prize-winning trilogy, The Forsyte Saga chronicles the lives of three generations of the wealthy, upper-middle-class Forsyte family from the late Victorian era through the early 20th century. The narrative centers on the possessive and cold-hearted solicitor Soames Forsyte and his beautiful, unhappy wife, Irene, whose loveless marriage becomes the catalyst for decades of family discord, scandal, and emotional ruin. As the family navigates the changing social landscape of England, the series explores themes of property, inheritance, and the stifling nature of societal expectations. The Forsytes view everything—including people—as possessions to be acquired and controlled, leading to a tragic cycle of resentment and unrequited love that spans decades, ultimately challenging the family's rigid moral code and their grip on their own legacy.
