The Ghost Bride

Overview

Set in 1890s Colonial Malacca, the story follows Li Lan, a young woman whose family receives a proposal from the wealthy Lim family. They are seeking a 'ghost bride' for their son, Lim Tian Ching, who has recently died under mysterious circumstances. By marrying a dead man, Li Lan would be guaranteed a life of comfort, but she would be haunted by the spirit of her deceased husband for the rest of her days. Desperate to save her father from financial ruin, Li Lan finds herself drawn into the dark, supernatural world of the Chinese afterlife. As she navigates the treacherous spirit realm, she uncovers long-buried family secrets and realizes that the Lim family's intentions are far more sinister than a simple marriage arrangement. With the help of a mysterious heavenly official, she must fight to reclaim her destiny and escape the clutches of the afterlife.
