Darien Fawkes, a petty thief facing a life sentence, is offered a chance at freedom by his brother, a brilliant scientist working for a top-secret government agency known as The Agency. His brother has successfully synthesized the 'Quicksilver' gland, a bio-synthetic organ that makes its host completely invisible when implanted into the bloodstream. However, the gland secretes a neurotoxin that slowly drives the host into an uncontrollable, murderous psychosis known as 'The Chrysalis.' When his brother is murdered and The Agency captures Darien, they implant a neutralizing counter-agent into his brain called the 'Opisthosoma' to keep him under control. Bound to The Agency, Darien must use his newfound invisibility powers to track down rogue scientists, terrorists, and dangerous anomalies while constantly battling the horrific psychological toll of the Quicksilver gland and searching for a permanent cure to his condition.
