The Lake follows Justin, a recently divorced gay father who returns to Canada from living abroad, hoping to reconnect with Billie, the teenage daughter he gave up for adoption. His master plan is to create idyllic summer memories at the same family lake resort where he spent his youth. However, his plans hit a major roadblock when he discovers that his father left the family cottage not to him, but to his perfectionist step-sister, Maisy-May. As Justin and Billie try to navigate their newfound relationship while staying at the lake, they find themselves in an ongoing comedic and emotional turf war with Maisy-May and her unsuspecting husband, Terry. Amidst the petty pranks, family secrets, and lakeside antics, Justin also strikes up a romance with a local boat-pilot named Riley, leading to a journey of self-discovery, forgiveness, and healing.
