Inspired by F. Scott Fitzgerald's final unfinished novel, "The Last Tycoon" follows Monroe Stahr, Hollywood's golden boy and wunderkind studio executive in 1930s Los Angeles. As he navigates the glittering yet ruthless studio system of Brady American Pictures, Stahr clashes with his mentor and studio head, Pat Brady, while desperately trying to produce a masterpiece film in honor of his late wife. Amidst rising political tensions, labor union strikes, and the looming shadow of Nazi Germany's influence on American cinema, Stahr strives to maintain his artistic vision and personal empire.
