The Legend

The Legend, also known as The Story of the First King's Four Gods, is a sweeping historical fantasy epic that chronicles the life of Dam-deok, the 19th king of Goguryeo. The narrative weaves together mythology and history, beginning with the legend of Hwan-woong, the son of heaven, who descended to earth to create a peaceful world with the help of four divine guardians representing the blue dragon, white tiger, red phoenix, and black tortoise. As the centuries pass, these powers are destined to be reborn to serve the true King of Jushin. Dam-deok, born under a prophecy that marks him as the reincarnation of Hwan-woong, must navigate a treacherous political landscape filled with power-hungry nobles and rival clans. Alongside his childhood friend and love interest, Sujini—a woman raised by the guardian of the red phoenix—Dam-deok embarks on a journey to reclaim the divine artifacts and unite the fragmented tribes. The series explores themes of destiny, sacrifice, and the burden of leadership as Dam-deok transforms from a sheltered prince into the legendary Gwanggaeto the Great.
