The Minister follows the story of Benedikt Ríkarðsson, a charismatic and popular politician who is elected as the Prime Minister of Iceland. However, Benedikt suffers from undiagnosed bipolar disorder, and as his condition begins to deteriorate, his erratic behavior and manic episodes threaten to destabilize the government and his personal life. His colleagues and family struggle to manage the fallout while trying to keep his condition a secret from the public and the media. As the political landscape becomes increasingly volatile, the series explores the intersection of mental health and high-stakes governance. Benedikt's idealism clashes with the cold realities of political maneuvering, leading to a gripping narrative about the fragility of power and the human cost of leadership. The show masterfully balances intense political drama with a sensitive portrayal of a man grappling with his own mind while holding the highest office in the land.
