The Missing is a gripping anthology drama series that explores the devastating emotional and psychological impact of a child's disappearance on their family. Each season follows a self-contained case, utilizing a non-linear narrative structure that jumps between the initial investigation and the long-term aftermath, often years later. The series delves into the obsession of parents, the complexities of police investigations, and the haunting nature of unresolved trauma. In the first season, Tony and Emily Hughes travel to France, where their young son Oliver vanishes, triggering a desperate search that spans years. The second season shifts focus to a young British woman who stumbles into a German town after being missing for over a decade, claiming to be a girl who disappeared in the same region years prior. Both seasons are characterized by their atmospheric tension, intricate plotting, and profound character studies.
