The Outwaters: Genesis

The Outwaters: Genesis serves as a prequel and expansion to the cosmic horror universe established in the 2022 found-footage film The Outwaters. The series delves into the mysterious origins of the Mojave Desert anomalies, exploring the psychological disintegration of a group of researchers who stumble upon ancient, otherworldly vibrations buried beneath the sand. As the boundary between reality and nightmare begins to dissolve, the characters are forced to confront entities that defy human comprehension. The narrative structure shifts between the perspectives of the ill-fated expedition team and the cryptic, fragmented history of the land itself. As the desert begins to manifest impossible geometries and auditory hallucinations, the survivors must grapple with the realization that they are not merely lost, but are being harvested by a sentient, ancient force. The series maintains the visceral, disorienting aesthetic of the original film while expanding the lore of the 'Outwaters' phenomenon.
