Based on Naomi Alderman's award-winning novel, 'The Power' takes place in a world where teenage girls suddenly develop the ability to discharge electricity from their fingertips. What starts as a tingling sensation in their collarbones quickly evolves into a catastrophic shift in the global balance of power, as women realize they can awaken the same ability in older women. As the matriarchy begins to rise, the series follows a sprawling, international ensemble of characters whose lives are irrevocably altered by this new reality. From a bruised Seattle teenager and a Nigerian journalist to the ambitious mayor of Seattle and a corrupt European crime family's heir, society fractures along gender lines. The once-suppressed force transforms into an instrument of ultimate liberation for some and terrifying subjugation for others, ultimately rewriting the laws of politics, religion, and human nature worldwide.
