Set in a small, picturesque French mountain town, the series begins when several people who have been dead for years suddenly reappear at their homes. They are not aware of their own deaths, they have not aged, and they are confused by the passage of time. As they attempt to reintegrate into their families and society, the town is gripped by a series of strange, increasingly violent phenomena that coincide with their return. The narrative explores themes of grief, memory, and the fragility of human connection. As the townspeople struggle to understand the nature of the returnees, long-buried secrets are unearthed, and the boundary between the living and the dead begins to blur. The series is noted for its haunting atmosphere, slow-burn mystery, and deep psychological character studies.
