"The Royal Family" is an American television sitcom that originally aired on CBS during the 1991–1992 television season. The series stars legendary comedian Redd Foxx as Al Royal, a proud, retired baggage handler, and Della Reese as his sharp-witted wife Victoria, who suddenly find their peaceful retirement upended when their adult children and grandchildren move back into their Atlanta home. The premise explores generational friction, familial love, and the comedic chaos that ensues under one roof. Created by Eddie Murphy, the show holds a bittersweet place in television history as it marked the final television appearance of Redd Foxx, who tragically passed away on the set during production of the show's eighth episode. Despite the profound loss and subsequent production hiatus, the cast and crew rallied to complete a memorable run, showcasing the resilience of a tight-knit ensemble cast dealing with domestic ups and downs.
