The Secret Life of Trees

Set against the backdrop of a sprawling, centuries-old botanical research facility, "The Secret Life of Trees" explores the intricate and often hidden dynamics between humanity and nature. The story follows Dr. Kang Ji-won, an eccentric yet brilliant plant ecologist who believes that trees communicate and hold memories of human wrongdoings. When a high-profile developer threatens to level the protected forest to build a luxury resort, Ji-won teams up with a cynical corporate liaison, Choi Hyun-woo, to uncover the land's dark history. As Ji-won and Hyun-woo dig deeper into the ecology of the forest, they unearth long-buried cold cases tied to the local town's founding families, including a decades-old disappearance. The scientific investigation quickly transforms into a high-stakes psychological drama, forcing the characters to confront their own personal grief, familial betrayals, and the silent witnesses standing all around them. The series masterfully blends environmental mystery with deeply emotional character arcs.
