Based on Stephen King's 1978 post-apocalyptic novel, The Stand follows the aftermath of a man-made virus, known as 'Captain Trips,' which wipes out the vast majority of the world's population. The survivors find themselves drawn into a cosmic struggle between two opposing forces: the benevolent 108-year-old Mother Abagail, who represents the light, and the malevolent Randall Flagg, known as the 'Dark Man,' who represents the darkness. As the remnants of humanity attempt to rebuild society, they must choose sides in a looming confrontation that will determine the fate of the world. The series explores themes of morality, faith, and the resilience of the human spirit as characters navigate a desolate landscape, haunted by their pasts and the terrifying influence of Flagg, who seeks to establish a totalitarian regime in Las Vegas.
