The Tracey Ullman Show

The Tracey Ullman Show was a groundbreaking American television variety show that aired on the Fox network from 1987 to 1990. Starring British comedian and actress Tracey Ullman, the series blended sketch comedy, musical numbers, and character-driven vignettes. Ullman's extraordinary ability to disappear into a wide array of eccentric, often working-class characters made the show a critical darling and a cultural touchstone of the late 1980s. Beyond its sketch comedy roots, the show is historically significant for serving as the launching pad for 'The Simpsons'. Animated shorts featuring the Simpson family were created by Matt Groening and aired as interstitials between segments, eventually evolving into the longest-running scripted primetime series in American television history. The show's unique mix of satire, heart, and musical performance helped establish the fledgling Fox network as a serious competitor to the 'Big Three' networks.
