Set against the backdrop of the Cold War and the Swinging Sixties, "The Trial of Christine Keeler" takes a fresh look at the infamous Profumo affair through the eyes of the woman at its epicenter. Christine Keeler, a young and vibrant model, becomes entangled in a high-society web that bridges the British political establishment and the criminal underworld. When her relationships with Secretary of State for War John Profumo and a Soviet naval attaché are exposed, it triggers a massive political scandal that ultimately brings down the government. The series reframes the historical narrative, shifting away from the male-dominated perspective of the 1960s media to explore Keeler's agency, vulnerability, and resilience. As she navigates intense public scrutiny, betrayal, and a sensationalized trial, the drama highlights how a young woman was scapegoated by a corrupt system designed to protect the powerful men in charge.
