Set in a quiet coastal town, Hinako is a young girl carrying deep emotional scars and a desperate desire to end her life. One day, she encounters Shiori, a mysterious and beautiful mermaid-like spirit who possesses supernatural powers. Instead of fearing the creature, Hinako offers herself as food, believing her life has no value. However, Shiori refuses to eat her immediately, claiming that Hinako's soul needs to be properly 'fattened' by experiencing joy and happiness first. As the two form an unusual, high-stakes bond, they must navigate the looming threats of other supernatural entities and the complexities of human emotion.
