Set in the tumultuous era of the antebellum American South, "Underground" follows a courageous group of plantation slaves who plan a daring, high-stakes 600-mile escape to freedom along the Underground Railroad. Led by the resourceful Noah and the seemingly timid house slave Rosalee, the group must navigate treacherous terrain, ruthless slave catchers, and harrowing moral dilemmas. Along the way, they intersect with abolitionists, secret sympathizers, and complex figures whose lives are inextricably bound to the institution of slavery. The second season shifts its focus to the fractured nation on the brink of the Civil War, exploring the underground network's operations in the free states and the South alike. It delves deeper into the psychological toll of slavery, the cost of freedom, and the fierce rebellion brewing across the country. The series brilliantly blends historical drama with modern storytelling sensibilities, an adrenaline-pumping pace, and a contemporary hip-hop infused score that highlights the timeless fight for liberation.
