United States of Tara

United States of Tara follows the life of Tara Gregson, a suburban wife and mother who suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). As she attempts to navigate the complexities of raising two teenagers and maintaining a marriage with her supportive husband, Max, she must contend with several distinct alternate personalities—or 'alters'—that emerge during times of stress. These alters, ranging from a rebellious teenager named T to a 1950s housewife named Alice, frequently disrupt the family's stability and force them to confront deep-seated trauma. The series explores the delicate balance between mental health struggles and the pursuit of a 'normal' family life. As the Gregsons grapple with the unpredictability of Tara's condition, the show delves into themes of identity, acceptance, and the resilience of familial bonds. With a blend of dark comedy and poignant drama, the narrative examines how each family member adapts to the ever-shifting dynamics caused by Tara's condition, ultimately seeking a path toward healing and understanding.
