What Just Happened?? With Fred Savage is a unique television hybrid that serves as a parody of the popular 'after-show' format. Hosted by Fred Savage, the series purports to be a deep-dive discussion show for a fictional sci-fi book series titled 'The Flare' by author TJ Whitford. Through this meta-narrative, the show satirizes the tropes of fan-culture talk shows, featuring celebrity guests, panel discussions, and behind-the-scenes segments that treat the non-existent source material with extreme, comedic seriousness. Beyond the central parody, the show incorporates scripted segments that follow Fred Savage's personal life and his attempts to navigate the entertainment industry. By blurring the lines between reality and fiction, the series explores the absurdity of modern television fandom and the industry's obsession with franchise building, all while maintaining a lighthearted, improvisational tone.
